What to Expect With Your Microneedling Treatment in our Portland and Clackamas Offices
Before coming in for your microneedling services, we ask you stay away from prolonged unprotected sun exposure or tanning beds for at least two weeks. You also want to avoid waxing any areas we’ll treat in your sessions. We also recommend avoiding using makeup on the day of treatment. If you would like, we do offer a professional-grade numbing cream, but most treatments cause only slight discomfort. Once finished, expect your skin to be flush to bright red, which will fade within 24-48 hours. We ask you to remain out of direct or harsh sunlight for 24 hours, but if you must, please use sunscreen with SPF 25 or higher. Much like our regular microneedling services in Portland and Clackamas, we use surgical-grade fine needles to puncture the skin which stimulates collagen and elastin. We often recommend this options since it introduces radio frequency to boost the amount of collagen and elastin production increasing recovery and cell regeneration. We’ll be able to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines more efficiently, reduce scars caused by acne, surgical procedures and stretch marks. This version out performs PRP (which requires a blood draw) due to its ability to slowly release growth factors increasing cell regeneration over a 3-4 week span vs 3-5 days as seen in PRP treatments. PRF is a second-generation concentrate of your own platelets and growth factors. Unlike PRP, which releases growth factors over 3–5 days, PRF creates a fibrin scaffold that slowly releases healing factors for up to 3–4 weeks for more sustained results.
